My Identity
My Identity
WWhat’s your identity (individual, relational, collective)?
INDIVIDUAL
What makes my identity unique as a person is that I am a doer. I like to get things done and also like to get things done straight away or I move into another part of my identity – I am a procrastinator. Once the doer urge has passed it takes a bit to get me motivated back to the task. I like things I can just get done. I don’t love asking for help or waiting too long as this makes me frustrated.
I am creative and have good visualisation. I like to make and create and I also like to add my own spin on things – nothing is ever how the original idea was.
I am direct and my face tells whats really going on in my head.
I am a single mother of one, a daughter and the fifth child in a family.
I am a teacher and educator
I am a traveller.
RELATIONAL
I am a member of my family
I am the youngest child and fourth girl
I am an organiser of activities
I am an aunty
Collective
I am a teacher and team member. I am a follower of rules but also a questioner of what I don’t think is quite right.
I am a contributor and problem solver.
Who are you in education?
In Education I am a teacher of intermediate age students. I am a councellor of problems in the classroom, a mediator and the person who sets boundaries and expectations. I am an eternal student always trying new things with my class and wanting to make school engaging and relevant. I am a leader of curriculum and a teacher of adults. I am a learner. I am a confidant of colleagues.
What is education in your identity?
Education is a huge part of my identity. It is my employment so it allows me to live the life I live. Being an educator is what I was meant to be and even when I take time away from teaching I still end up educating in some way – guiding people around Europe teaching them about the geography and history of countries.
